I have ridden the Isle of Wight a few times, partly because we have friends who live in E. Cowes. Last year I cycled the round the island route with two friends.
The cycle route is about 65 miles, not many straight roads, lots of towns and villages.
A return ferry crossing on a Saturday is around £60, we usually go from Lymington, but Southampton is often cheaper.
With reasonable notice we could do it mid week, but a spring weekend ride would be nice.
